Got an 06 Bob, want to go with forward controls. I am looking at the ones from Harley and Kuryakyn now. I am leaning toward the Kuryakyn set. Anyone got any input if one is better than the other (function and looks)? Also I am 5'11 - 6'0 (yes, they do stack **** that high) I want my legs strechted out, any guys my size go with the 3/4 extented? Am I missing any other brands that I won't have to sellany of my kids to buy? Thanks.
I had the dealer install the HD forwards before I pickup up my bike when I bought it. I liked the HD forwards. I just installed the Kuryakyn 3â extensions and love it! I am 6â4 with a 34â inseam. I felt a little cramped with the HD forwards. Once I put on the 3â extension the bike feels like it should now!
YOu can have the H-D forward controls put on. Deceide if you want them in Black or chrome.
Look at the Iso grips and the Switchblade forward controls. I'm 5'10" you might have to change yer seat to adjust you to where you need to be also.
I compared both and I would go with the Kuryakyn forwards but, at 5' 7" my mids are comfortable so I haven't decided what I want to do yet. With the Kury's you can easily switch back if you want but it's a lot harder with the HD's.
That's why I had the Black H-D brackets installed and went with the Chrome Switchblade pegs. Its all about how much money you want to spend. Chrome is over 500.00 just for materials. I might change mine later on. Later just ain't here. I've done got nearly 30 grand in my bike, build and changes i've made for the past year.
I am the same height as you, and I have fitted HD forwards off a 2001 model.
I also have the Sundowner seat, and it puts you more forward than the standard seat, so I made 2" extended mounting brackets to move them out a bit.
Feels less cramped than the standard position.
I have a 2007 FXDC. Left the mid pegs on as well.
Thanks for the responses. I as well plan on leaving the mid pegs. Its a winter project so I still go sometime to figure it all out. Some of those other brands are so darn expensive.
