I bought my 06 FXDI used in January of 07. It had 2000 miles on it and was all original and plain. I now have about $14,000 tied up in it, including the cost of the bike. I know that is far more than it is worth and about the cost of a custom, but it is what I have created. I love this thing and have so enjoy doing the mods. IfI had to do it again, I would do it the same way.
See sig pic. Have since added Lowrider highway pegs and seat, and black luggage racknot in pic. I like it. Speedo is kinda in a bad place but it does make it easy to see. To change display from odo to clock is a bit of a reach while riding but not bad. The button is at the top back of the speedo. If she wouldn't mind the wonderful looking silver powdercoat engine and tranny it's a good bike.
i have a 05 superglide love to death.greatest bike that i have ever owned and i have had alot my fifth harley.you can make it in to what ever you want.road machine. street machine .i would show you a picture of her but i have never had any luck getting her posted.and i will never buy another if i cant keep her.
I just bought my '06 Super Glide Custom after lookingand sitting on a lot of bikes. I narrowed my choices down to the Super Glide,Street Bob and Low Rider, as these bikes seemed to fit me the best. Have her go to the dealer and sit on different bikes. Some dealers rent, which is a great way to try before you buy. People I'vetalked to say this is a great handling bike. It's been rainning here, so I haven't had a chance to really go out and ride it yet (other than around town about 10 miles); but it seemed to handle well, even for a relatively new rider like me (going from a Buell Blast). The first modifications willprobablybedifferent handle bars and a solo seat - but so far, I love it! Good Luck to you and your wifewith your purchase - congrats!
If I were to do it again, same bike, but would try to get an 07 or 06 used (fwd cntrls/pipes/ac/bags/windshield/sundowner etc) and save yourself a boat load of cash. I went with the Custom solely for the savings in chrome alone--recommended move. She'll love it. My wife tried to ride it...claims it's a bit to high in the saddle (she's 5'6")--going with the nightster or 1200L. Good luck!
