can you identify this dyna?
my title does have a state issued vin number that is only 8 characters long, then it says year: 1996 then it says make: HD then model: fxd. Thats all. Weird that it does not say special construction.
They didn't list it correctly but its probably legal (Just be careful to fully disclose if you sell it.) It will never get insured as a Harley for example. Insurance companies would catch it immediately.
Full disclosure here.

The biggest visible clue is the frame triangle under the seat. I would expect it to sell pretty easy at 5-6 grand.
Be careful with the peacock leaking make sure its turned off, fuel will go right to the base. As a clone most of parts from that era will fit pingel makes the best petcock but something from Drag Specialties will be much cheaper.
I am wondering though why many of you classified it as an FXR model? what am i missing?. The only reason why i originally thought it was a dyna was because in the certificate of title it said Fxd under the model. And when i searched Harley FXD a bunch of dyna's were showing up, so sorry if this post is in the wrong section.

FXR is one type of frame, in the progression of FX style bikes...
I had a '78 & '80 Low Rider with the FXS frame (shovel head), which was replaced in '82 by the FXR frame (shovel head & EVO engines), which was replaced by the FXD frame around '97 (EVO & twin cam engines), and then discontinued after 2017.... The dates are approximate, as there were overlaps of available frames and and a few years in the Twin Cam days were the FXD was stopped and brought back. Plus this is off the top of my old head....
Each frame "update" will often have detractors and fans. The FXR frame had a rather fanatical fan base, thus the availability of an FXR aftermarket frame... It's distinguishing feature is how the frame forms a triangle under the seat. If you look at it's predecessor the FXS, or it's successor the FXD, you will not see that triangle frame portion under the seat.
That is why everyone is guessing an FXR model based on the picture alone....
Based on the paperwork and the bike itself, you seem to have an FXS EVO engine & paperwork in an aftermarket FXR frame....
Unfortunately, that also will be a major detractor for any knowledgeable potential customer.
The more customized a bike is, the harder it is to tell what parts are what make, and thus get replacement parts. Then you never know if you will need to massage the part to get it to fit....
Having said all that, it can still be a great bike. Someone will want it, but IMHO, the price will be lower than if it was in OEM form. The VIN will show anyone who checks on it, that it is a special construction motorcycle, regardless of what the paperwork says...
Good luck with the sale...
