The thin width of that aluminum is not a typical installation.
I agree. And with Teflon tape, I sure would not torque it or attempt to measure any distance. That post I made about torque came from another user.
I actually have never seen it. Nor ever an actual measurement on depth. And appears Max was right about chrome build up on threads. I thought at first by his image it had a bunch of tape on it.
His depth looks great now. I would not have left it standing out that far either as shown in post 10.

0-80
Typical torque for a 1/8" pipe plug is 60-80 in-lbs.

Maybe, but it's only about 6 ft-lbs, and the source is for steel plugs with sealant in aluminum engine cases. Personally, I would judge it by feel, unless I was building an aircraft engine.

Submarines have MS fittings (o-ring like on transmission and engine that torque metal to metal) on any lube type tanks.
Do aircraft motors have tapered pipe fittings in them?
Why does it seem these always go to a pissing contest and aircraft and submarines and who the **** cares let's stick to the bikes and common knowledge..

There is no pissing contest going on.
The OP solved his issue many posts ago, no harm done having a conversation.

Sorry, but common knowledge is just like common sense. It's learned. And the plugs in a TC are MS fittings.
I choose to increase my knowledge on airplane motors.
This is Brent's thread. Rest assured, if he ask me to go away, I will.
