Default 2011 Wide Glide help

I recently got a 2011 wide glide on a trade, and if I keep it I will want to remove the bags and sissy bar/backrest someone has put on it.

My question is, can I just start removing this stuff, or was other things changed to install them?

It looks like the license plate had been moved to under the fender but I guess I could keep it like that without bags.

Thanks

The backrest has a quick release mounting system. It should pop right off. I can't really explain how the mechanism works, but there are all kinds of youtube videos. This one will show you a similar setup to yours:

After you take off the sissy bar and unbolt the bags, you're going to be left with some ***** sticking out from your fender struts, similar to the ones on the picture below. You can get rid of those by replacing some hardware. Good luck with your project and let's see some more pics!

Thanks for the pic. The chrome part and red plastic lens are from the original stock signals. The black stalks are part of the license plate relocation hardware. When the bike was stock they had chrome stalks that mounted to the fender rails. They had to be removed to mount the saddlebags.

I think they'll look fine, but, where is your tail light?

I believe those act as the tail light and turn signals on these bikes.

Yep, I wish I could find some strut lights on something real small that would fit this bike, to just do away with the turn signal bars, i think it would look good.

Bumping this up with a separate question..

I want to put a really sleek solo seat on this bike, does everyone just run a fender bib on these with a solo seat?

It looks like otherwise you would just have a bolt there, that doesn't go to anything.
