I have a 06 StreetBob. The joint between the engine and the tranny I sometimes see a film of what looks like oil oozing from the joint. However it if dont clean it , it will disappear like evaporate. It is never a lot just a small hint.
Any others experience this.
There has been many posts on this. I get the same thing on my '03 FXD. I've been told by dealers that it really is not an oil leak and thet there is no oil in that area and no gasket between engine and trans. They explain that it is probably just a stain from the two aluminum surfaces butted up to each other. It cleans up easily with brake cleaner spray and a good scrubbing with the wife's toothbrush.
I had the same thing on my 07 street bob it is in the shop and they are taking out the motor to fix what they call a leak. All under wrnty. But I am still waiting to see what the deal is. Dont care as long as it is no money out of my pocket.
same on an 02 fxd with silver engine. clean once in a great while, adds character, the 05 fxdli doesn't show it cause it's a black engine. like others said metal to metal rub due to high freq. vibrations also known as fretting. could the assy at the factory been different i suppose so. keep the brake cleaner and toothbrush handy.
06 SuperGlide......... Spot always shows up.............. High pressure spray takes it right off. I just kind of consider it the same inconvenience as the bugs all over the front end, and all the dirt that gets on the bike from riding. It is an irritation, though.
I really think we all have it, but the silver powder coat really shows it off. Maybe a poll should be taken on this one.
