I'm T-Minus a couple weeks from getting my Bobber. As i'm still getting my Harley wish list together, I came across these Highway Pegs & was wondering if these are what people are using on there Bob. Being of the vertically challenged ( only 5'4" ), I cant get the forward controls, but was looking for a stretch out option. The link is below. Hate having this much time before the bike gets here. Been going through the Harley catalog with a fine tooth comb finding all I want. My list is almost up to $2000.
I feel your pain, being not much taller than you. I found an alternative solution on the Kuryakyn site. they sell a set of 90 degree offset peg mounts that allow you to rotate the pegs a couple of inches any way you want, using the stock mounting plates. The advantage there is that the stock highway peg moungs use both front mounting bolts, the ones that you're considering use the single bolt. Follow this link and take a look cheap alternative IMO. http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=harley&ci=3234
I do have a set of forward controls on my Superglide and although it is a bit of a stretch, having a local shop redo your existing seat to move you forward an inch or two will get you to where you need to be. Unfortunately, the forward controls on the new '06 Dynas requires a lot more work than just bolting them on. The outer primary has to come off and that gets pricey at dealer rates, unless you're that comfotable taking your new bike apart. If you go that route, I'd see if the dealer would install them prior to taking delivery.
Don't buy those until you get the bike. I think at 5'4" your feet will never be able to reach them on a Dyna frame. My DWG has the standard forward controls and a friend of mine who is 5'4" has to slide up on the tank to get his feet on the pegs. Once you get the bike, you'll be able to use that picture to judge if they'll work.
JamieWG has a good point. A better alternative is to see your delivering dealer and take a Wide Glide for a test ride. The frames are virtually the same and if you can't reach the forwards on the WG, you'll never reach them on the Bob, and with the cost to put them on the '06's, it's a very costly mistake to make.
If the forward controls don't work out, I'd still recommend the Kuryakyn offset peg mounts, they're in the catalog for about $50.00 and they'll fit any HD or Kuryakyn footpegs you want.
Oh yeah boys, i'm gonna wait till I get my bike till I start getting stuff, I was just wondering. I was already looking at the Kuryakyn mounts as well, as we all know Kuryakyn makes a great product. I appreciate the help though.
Hey chap.....
I am 5'6" with an '05 FXD. I went with the highway mount kit that you linked to. I found that with my height I had to have the pegs in the most rear position and honestly, they were too close to the mid mount controls. It was hard to fit the heel of my boot between the shift lever/brake lever and the highway pegs. Picked up a set of Kuryakyn peg offsets. Nice chrome finish and what a difference. Was able to get just the right location and feel. Now, for a tall guy to use them....HA, different story.
I feel your pain about the wait. Mine is away for the winter and spring feels years away right now. Good luck!
Yeah, the more I think about it, the more i'm leaning toward the Kuryakyns. Was looking at the Longhorn Offsets & then getting the quickclamp for the down tube. That is looking like the best, most affordable option. Yeah, sucks being short, trust me. I just hope the mini apes arent too much of a stretch for me, but I should be ok in that dept, as I got gorilla arms ( knuckle dragger, you get it... ).
WillieC,
That is a nice looking foot control setup on your Street Bob. [sm=smiley20.gif]Are the highway pegs Harley or aftermarket, and may I ask how much for the highway peg setup? Thanks.

They are HD brand and cost about 100.00 and work real well and I can
use my heel to shift and brake. Best of both worlds for 100.00
