Just picked up the kuryakyn laydown panacea multi-function tailight part 4833. I would like it to function as brake light, tailight, and turn signals. I'm finding the instructions slightly confusing. Unscrewed the red lens covering off the back of the bike. I pulled out the tailight connector (the portion where the bulb is attached) and replaced it with the supplied twin cam taillight connecter which has three loose wires and plug that hooks into the new kury tailight.
1. I assume i can unplug those three wires? Instructions say it is an extra harness to power accessory equipment and if not using unplug.
2. Next, because I'm not using the stock turn signals, can I unplug them and remove them completely. Both rear turn signals appear to have to wires running from them, (black and purple) into a clip. Do I just unclip it and be done with it?
3. On the control module, do I set the selector switch to panacea postion so it functions as a turn signal also. The other option is stock OEM postion which i believe i would use if I kept my stock turn signals on.
4. Finally, where do I find the main wiring harness going to the rear fender. Instructions say to separate the harness at the main connector plug and install the control mdule inline. I trace the wires from the fender and they take a dip under the seat and seemed to be buried under there amongst other wires. Is there a specific spot I need to look to find the connectors. Will I have to cut anything?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm not sure if I am doing things right. Especially not sure where to find the wiring harness for the rear fender. I can post pics if this will help for those who can help me out. I might be in over my head on this one.
take off your seat and on the right side it should be marked tail light with a 2" sticker covered in bar codes....I'll run out and snag a pic...Post it in a few
Good looking out on the picture! Ok, found it. Do I need to connect the load equalizer. I'm not using the stock rear turn signals. If I need to connect it where the heck does it plug into?? I'm think i'm finally on the right track thanks to your help.
if you aren't using the stock turn signals then the equalizers are not needed....if you are replacing bulbs with LEDs, then you will need equalizers...if you are removing your turnsignals altogether, you don't need any equalizers. simple rule...if you have LEDs as turn signals, you'll need them ...if you use bulbs, you don't.
