Default Swingarm question

I’ve been hearing some squeaking whenever I run over bumps so I started poking around.
Thought it might be the shocks because I started hearing it right after I put the stock shocks back on a month or two ago but I’m not so sure that’s what it is.
So I pulled the chrome cover off the swingarm bolt on the exhaust side of the bike and found a bunch of what looks like chewed up black plastic in there. I’m assuming it’s a bushing.
What’s the consensus on this? It’s on a 1995 Dyna Convertible. 22000 miles.

Didn't you have a similar question regarding alignment the other day?
Looks like several things are telling you to replace the swingarm bushings. I did mine the last time I replaced the belt.

Yep. My Belt alignment thread is what prompted me to look under that chrome cap on the swingarm.
Seems like the old girls gonna need some love this winter. Swingarm bushings, motor mounts, and maybe neck bearings.

When your bike "talks" to you - listen.

Your bike is taking to you - listen.

Replace the swing arm bushings.

Might wanna consider checking wheel bearings as well. I had front bearing go out on my 2013 Street Glide on a trip. Scared the crap out of me!!! Just something else to consider.

Bubba has a 95, so he has the Timken tapered roller bearings instead of the sealed ball bearings the factory started using in 2000. The Timken bearings last for a very long time as long as they are repacked when a new tire is installed.

Since you’ve recently replaced the shocks, it's possible that the installation process may have stressed the existing bushings if they were already weak. I recommend replacing the swingarm bushings and inspecting the surrounding components for any additional wear or damage.
Thanks. I got ahold of a local shop this week to see about getting the work done, as I don't have a garage to do jobs like this. I'm thinking I'll have them install new swingarm bearing & bushings as well as replace both motor mounts while I'm at it.
The motor mounts are sagging pretty bad, which could also be a part of why the swingarm bushings are worn.

When my trike was new it had the same thing going on under those caps. Took it to the dealer and they said it was normal.
There is a thread on here about it. I would see if there is any slop in the swingarm, if not you may still be good to good. I have put another 12,000 miles on my bike without any issues, but i do look at them every now and again.

A good shop will do it anyhow but ask them to inspect the swingarm closely for any cracks.
