Ok, here we go. I swapped out my HD slash cut slip ons for a pair of slash out SEII's. I already had the SE AC with the stage 1 download and the parts guy said that I shouldn't notice any performance changes and would not require any retuning. I noticed a loss in power immediately and then ordered and intalled a PCIII pre-loaded from FuelMoto and the bike runs great again and sounds good too. BUT, and this is hard to describe so bear with me, I hear a sound now that to me sounds a little like an old beetle's exhaust. Not all the time, but at low rpm cruising after the bike is hot. I'm not sure its not an echo or something similar due to the new pipes and the outlet angles. I wanted to get the forums opinion and has anyone else noticed this?
Well, its only when I'm at constant throttle, low rpm cruising. It really does remind me off the "chirp" sound from an oldBeetle's exhaust only not nearly as loud. When I'm in my garage in neutral it does not happen nor when I'm coming up to speed. I was a little worried about spark knock or pre ignition after adding the PCIII but I would think that a guy would feel that along with hearing it. Lets see who joins in to the thread.
I hear the same noise on my Bob, it almost sounds like a loose bolt on my rear fender. I can't seem to find it, so I'll worry about it when something falls off I guess.
Check you muffler clamps. I had the same noise and found that I was leaking exhaust where the head pipe slipped over the muffler. You can see discoloration at the joint. I had to move my clamp around some in order to get a tighter fit. May have to replace the clamp if it has been stretched to much.
I also noticed what sounded like an exhaust leak going over a long bridge in my area, but that was my exhaust echoing off the bridge sides. It was a weird high pitched noise, but only occurred on the bridge.
Also, when I orginally replace my stock mufflers with the HD muffler for the Stage One Kit, I was sorely disappointed in the sound. Almost like a moped. Fixed that with a pair of old style SEII's with BCT baffles.
Exhaust Leak... Sounds like Chirping.. For you that installed a new set of full pipes never use the Screaming Eagle Gaskets they suck and leak.. Left Gasket is S/E Right is Standard Gasket... Sounds like a alot of leaking pipes out there...

Jeez, I love this forum! Skip, you're the best! Don't have that particular issue, but I love reading and learning what all you guys have to say and the great advice that's given!
