I'm wondering if any of that crap came out of the oil pan when he dropped the oil. If no, then I would think that points to it all being in the dirty side of the filter. If yes, then "oh boy..."
I agree with other's, filter element glue.. How long has this bike been sitting?
It hasn't been sitting. He has been riding it but he bought it less than a year ago. He said it was the filter that was on the bike when he got it. I am still waiting for him to cut the filter open.
There are no brand insignias on the filter and it doesn't have the nut
On the end of it like K&N's do
Looks like the plastic in the INA cam bearing to me, Id be opening it now.
Did they use them in 99? I thought they started cheaping out later then that. But even if so, wouldn't it be making a racket if the bearings disintegrated like that?
Exactly, how did all that crap get on the top of the filter in the first place? And why is it dry? I don't see any traces of oil at all.
I wonder how long it was left to drain. I don't know if he noticed it immediately or picked it up a few days later and found all the debris. It's a mystery
He said he cut open the filter and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary (he doesn't have a whole lot of Harley experience though). He did say no debris in the drained oil at all.
