Mid Controls
My 06 Lowrider came with the mid controls and I had them moved forward before I even picked up the bike. I had them save all of the parts and I used them to put mid pegs on. Then for my birthday last year, my wife got all matching pegs or me (forward, mid & passenger). On long rides I like to switch back and forth. It seems that my legs get bored with eith position for long periods of time!

I was pu$$in about my aching legs at the end of a +300 mile day. [:'(]and even thought of doing this. heard of the other guy(s) who put their left foot on primary too. anyway so seriously using rear pass pegs? like a sport bike pos - legs behind? I need to see this one!

I like the general, day to day feel of theforwards better,on my SB. However, on longer rides, when you don't get a chance to shift your weight when stopping at stop lights, etc. it's real difficult to adjust your seat-to- butt clearances with the forwards while doing 70+ on the interstate.Obviouslywith themids, your feet are more underyour weight, soit's not a problem. I use the passenger pegs regularly. Just hang the heel of my boots on them and go. It took a little getting used to the movement of the swingarm on the big bumps but overall a good position when you need a change.
2007fxdc made a great observation above: "navy, unfortunately, I don't think you're going to get the same feel on the fatboy with forwards as you will on your dyna."
Boy was he right!! Sitting on the fatboy with my feet on the forwards felt more cramped than riding my bob with mids!! Riding the fat boy was weird to me in a lot of ways, but one thing is for certain: it made me appreciate my own scoot all the more...vibrations, warts and all!! Go ride someone else's bike next time you want to compalin about your own...
This was a 2003 anniv edition fatboy with a stage one kit, V&H straits, and the 88B (balanced) engine. The one thing I will give it: it had absolutley NO vibrations from the engine to the frame. This is the way all HD's should be made from now on from the factory - re-design for the 96 to be a balanced engine. However even with the modified air cleaner system on the fat boy, and the straight pipes, the 96 still has way more get up and go than the 88!
BUT..I felt like I was riding a toy bike on a stool just like our other esteemed member points out. Not a great judge, but it gave me enough of a fell to go ahead and put my forwards from Kurykan on order. I also orderd a set of the new switchblade footpegs which have a hidden heel rest you can deploy with your foot when you want it. I further ordered a matching set of passenger pegs and small matching pegs for mid moutning - love to still have best of both worlds!
Well, that will be that on this thread for me - once they are installed I will report back and give anyone any advise first hand like you all gave me.

I have forward pegs that I got on the new SG. I had only ridden a Sporty for a month with no other experience. The 12 miles home were fine and the rides all over Malibu have been great. There is just great control from the forwards. I added heel pegs, which are interesting. It allows me to put my foot a little lower in rest and it gives me a platform feel for the my feet. My feet are actually on some of the metal and not only on the pegs but it gives me a whole flat feel. I like it and allows me to shift my feet without too much movement at high speeds.
The mids on my Lowrider really hurt my knees. I had to do something else. I have forwards and love them. I would never go back. For longer rides, I have kept the mid-peg to give another position if I want it, but I rarely use them.

I've got to disagree with you on the quote above though. The B motors are nice as far as vibration goes and it's an option for anyone that considers that important - just buy a softail. But, I wouldn't want one on my dyna. The rubber mounts help enough with the vibration so that you can actually see what's behind you in the mirrors at speed but it still feels like you are riding a Harley. If the B motors were so in demand by the majority, I imagine that it would at least be an option on the touring models, if not everything else, by now. Just my opinion....

Is there a kit to take forward controls to mid controls?? Harley has some cool new screaming eagle motorcycles now with 110 CI, but every one of them have forward controls. At 5'4' mid controls are like forward controls to me. I do like to go fast and love the turns so mid controls just don't get it for me.
