Mid Controls
ORIGINAL: LawrenceFromTorrance
Is there a kit to take forward controls to mid controls?? Harley has some cool new screaming eagle motorcycles now with 110 CI, but every one of them have forward controls. At 5'4' mid controls are like forward controls to me. I do like to go fast and love the turns so mid controls just don't get it for me.

If I were you, I'd pose the question to a dealer parts/service rep. first. If they have a kit, let them install it unless you are really comfortable digging around inside your primary. If they say no, don't give up hope - go looking in the aftermarket like Kuryakyn and others.
Chances are, if the bike you have comes in a model that has mid-controls (SE dyna vs. regular dyna glide, bob, or lowfor example), mid controls can be adapted to it with stock hardware. First check the bottom of your frame on each side where mid controls would be mounted and see if there are 2 pre-drilled holes (probably capped with plastic buttons) on each side. If there are, you can proceed in your quest. If not, you've got a much bigger project on your hands.
Installed my Kuryakyn forwards tonight along with the switchblade pegs - HOLY RECLINER BATMAN!!! Most natual seating position I could imagine. Legs feel good. Everytime I start from a dead stop though I have to think about where to put my bleepin' feet! Just have to get used to them, but comfortable as all get out.
The switchblade foot pegs really make a big difference also.....deploying the heel rest with the flick of my foot is awesome and supports my feet/leg weightperfectly.
Thanks to all for help and advise, said it already, but has to be said again...2007fxdc: you rock!! Going to HD to put the matching grips on tomorrow morning...said they could get me right in and wait for it...color me happy. It's going to be a ride-filled weekend!!

Way to go Navy. Remember to post some pix. I'm thinking about changing to some switchblades myself. Mine have heelrests but the damn things keep working loose on me and I don't have a wrench big enough to tighten them up all the time.
Oh by the way, you did use loc-tite on all your bolts and anti-sieze on all your exposed connecting points right? If not, take it apart and do it again. Buddy of mine had a footpeg backout and fall off on him the other day - he almost lost it.

Followed the instructions to a T. Used never sezie where noted, and lo-tite everywhere else.
Funny thing...dropped the bike off just minutes ago at local HD for the grips install. I was waiting, and the service person said the glue has to set up overnight because the left side grip on that model has no lipon it. Most all said the glue in this Kuryakyn kit sets up lightning quick so I was suspicious about it, but relented and called for a ride back to my office.
You don't think anything funny is going on do you? I know the dealer is always all about liability...but wtf?

Voila - the finished product:
Kuryakyn iso grips, forward controls, "Switchblade" foot pegs with retractable stirrups, small iso pegs at mid for feet placement option on long rides, and HD smoked signal lenses/amber bulbs.
Inch entention iso pegs for passenger on backorder - will match with the rest.
I think I'm done for awhile. Very happy with all.
