Which works for you? I've always liked the less-popular mid controls, with hiway pegs. Forwards do look cooler, but I feel more in control with the mids, more tucked-in when the need arises. I was suprised when the FatBob offered both. I'm not in the market for one, but I do think I'd go for the middle controls.
It could be that, except for a '76 FL, all my H-Ds have had middle shifters/brakes with hiway pegs. When the esses and curves are part of the ride, I feel a lack of control with the laid-back forward set-up.
I like forwards. To me mids are very unconfortable, the more stretched out the more relaxed I feel. Corners are better it makes it feel like I am hugging the bike better.
I like rear sets for riding fast and in the twisties. Mid controls for slow speed manuvers. Forward controls for long distance comfort.
I'm short and the forward controls on some bikes is too much of a stretch for me.
I like the boards and highway pegs on my Ultra, gives me some options to move my feet around.

If I didn't have a bagger, I would prefer mids with highway pegs. I had a Sporty with forwards and they weren't right for twisties or cruising. Of course, that's just my opinion.
Standard forward controls on my Night Train...I am 6'1" and they feel like a happy medium between mid and forward controls. People have told me I need to get extended forward controls, but I feel like I have good control over the bike as is.

What's the long'st ride you've taken? Just say'n....have a "tall" problem myself....6'2"....and on long rides....I need ta stretch out more...have solved some of it w/cruise-arms from Kury, but will add their 3-1/4" "extensions" very shortly....just ask'n.......
