Default 103 ported heads

Hello, dyna fatbob 103 engine, 10.1 compression, 48h cams. I plan to port heads from fuelmoto. Which cams are best suited for porting heads?

Nothing wrong with the 48 in that combination. Having said that it really depends on riding style and where you want the power. Suggest you quiz FM about cam choices based on how you ride the bike and your expectations.

Consider compression releases as part of the upgrade. Manual or ACR's if bike is wired for them. Of course, you will need fuel management and a dyno tune or a "map" from FM that you can upload; dyno tune preferred.

Understand, 1.4kw starter or not, CRs will extend starter and battery life.

Clarify, "was 96-103 build with 48 cams"; confusing what you are asking.

OK, I defer back to my first reply. The 48 will work well but you definitely need fuel management; dyno tune or map from FM. There are a variety of cams that would work in that configuration. Woods, Cyclerama, Andrews and TMan all offer cams that would work well in that configuration; IIRC, FM favors Woods cams. You need to talk to FM for their recommendations. Go to the FM website and scroll through all their 103" dyno tunes.

Pretty sure Head port design is particular to the cam you want to use which is particular to the way you ride and where you want the power..
If I was going to go with ported heads with bigger valves like a stage II head I would not be going with the 48 cams..

That cam would work as would he 48; best choice probably not. Take my advice and check out the 103 dynos on the FM website; there are many with ported heads and a variety of cams. Better yet, call FM and get their recomnendations.
