Default ELiminating Dash Mount Ignition Switch

I just added the security fob enabled BCM and antenna to my '17 FXDB and want to get rid of the dash mounted ignition switch like the '17 FXDLS setup. Anyone know what I need to do to get that done? I'm guessing there's some difference in the wiring harness that goes up to the gauges that bypasses the need for the ignition?

I don't know the answer to this, but if you unplug the switch does it cause any issues? If not I'd think you could just leave the unused connector under the dash.

Hmm, that didn't cross my mind. I'll give it a shot and report back. Thanks man!

So, I did some more poking around and turns out you're right, but I need to flash the BCM to "keyless" mode first. Talked to Harley and they can do it for a 1/2 hour of shop time now just need to get the bike in there. Pretty excited about this.

One of my favorite upgrades to my 14 FXDL was getting rid of the factory ignition, mine failed in one way or another on 3 separate occasions. Unless there is something different with your style ignition (mine was side mounted), which I doubt, you simply unplug it and tuck it away. I did mine at the dealer so they could program the keyless mode on the new BCM for me at the same time, charged me .5 labor and I was on my merry way. Never had an issue and that was done probably 7 years ago.

Just got this 100% wrapped up. Took it back to the dealership that did the BCM and FOB programming just about a month ago and the guys says, "gee we should have just set you up as keyless when we did the original install." Did they still charge me? What do you think.

Whatever, it's done. I got a little carried away but, ignition has been deleted and it's a FOB only bike now and I love it.

Pretty cool, good hustle!

What about a chip implanted in you so only your presence can start the bike, that way you don't have to even have a Fob on you

Be the Fob
