I'm 6'2" also and love the bars, thinkin about the 3" extended controls but have no complaints with the stock ones. Have the stock seat a have rode 300+ and no comfort issues. Rode a 1200c before the WG and there's no comparison on comfort. I really think you'll be very happy with the bike. Good luck and ride safe!

I'm 6'4" (36" inseam) also and the handlebars are fine. You'll probably want to add the 3" foot control extension from Kuryakin if you got long legs like I do.
It's amazing, but big guys like us actually make the WG look small!
You'll probably also find that you'll be wanting a different seat than the stock one, I don't find it to be very comfortable on longer rides.
Being 6' 6" and a mere 280lbs I like the "Fit" of the DWG as well. My longest 3 day trip (this summer) has been just over 1800 miles. My longest one day ride (this summer) has been 828 miles and only about 250 of it was on an interstate. My DWG has a stock seat and my butt never gets sore. I don't have one of those wimpy back rests and I have never had a sore back, riding or otherwise. Well, there was this one time back in 1968 as I was pumping Ethol,,,,,,, oops, wrong forum. Sorry for getting off track there,
I have a bud that has an Electra Glide Standard with a custom made $800 seat and some sort of black **** rug looking thing he puts on top of it, and a back rest and he has STILL has to stop every hour cause he gets a sore ***. Who knows, everybody is different.
Ole Geezer
I must be getting old because I actually know what Ethol is...my dad used to ask for it when he would fill up our '66 Buick. Unless you were talking about something else...
I am 6'-4" with a 38" inseam. I have an 02 WG. The first thing I did was put 3" extensions on my forward controls. I do like that stock handle bars but I have been contemplating putting 16" apes on. The main reason I haven't is because I don't want to lose the control they give me. 2 weeks ago I went and passed the motorcycle skills test on my first try on the WG. I am trying to find a seat that will put me as far back as possible, with my 38" inseam I am not as stretched out as I would like to have. I think if you are 6-4 you almost have to go with the WG for the comfort. I have sat on a bunch of different bikes and nothing compares to the room I have on my WG.
Now after listening to y'all I feel like a Runt ! I'm 5' 10" tall 194lbs. I like how the wide glide has ground clearance and is streached out a little more than the other scooters. I didn't hear any of you rednecks tell him to git a Tall Boy touring seat. Oh well, I got switchblade forwards on mine. Got a set of 14" wild1 apes, braided cables sitting on the counter at the Indy shop waiting on a wiring harness. As soon as it comes in I will again have some apes on my scooter.
Also figure out what you like on the bike best. When you go to the salesman, before they put it togeher. look at having them to do it then and save somemoney and it will be under yer warranty too. If you have a motorcycle license. Watch from today threw the new few weeks at all dealerships for free demo rides man.
Funny you mention the Softail Custom, it's been my second choice for months. The feel of that seat is sooooo good, I get hot sitting on it. But, the bike feels smaller, and I think I would immediately install some extensions/forward controls to enjoy the seat and the leg room. The king queen seat is a cool look too, but then again does anything beat the chopper look?
I bought my Superglide because I got a really good deal, and they didn't have any Wideglides.[]
I think the Wideglide is THE bike to have. It looks like this is the last year for them as well, so if you want a new one, now is the time! And it looks like they are all 105th Anniversary models.
I put wideglide forward controls on my bike, and at 6'2~230, on long trips, I stratech my legs out and rest the back of my legs on the pegs. Could go for 2 inch extensions I guess, but I found a solution that works for me for no cost.
Unless you want bags, get a Wideglide. IMHO. Baggers are cramped for tall guys.
