I have the silver motor but opted for the chrome covers. I don't really like how the fins line up on the 96 motor. That side of the bike needs some chrome to balance out the other side IMO anyway.

Here is a pic of mine.

they work on the 88 bikes but not on the 96" bikes, the fins don't kine up right on the 96"
I was thinking about getting them as well. Do you have a picture of how they do not line up on the 96?

The finsline up horizontally but they aren't flush with the motor giving it a smooth appearance. They still look better than stock but I like the chrome ones better anyway. The chrome ones are not even designed to blend in - they just add some chrome and look cool IMO.

They look awesome and took about 5 minutes to put on...
How do they attach?

Very easy - well sort of.

The kit comes with 2 donut shaped adapters that you place over the headbolts and tighten down with a tightening screw through the side of the adapter. Then you place the cover over the adapters and there are 2 hex head screws that attach through the holes in the covers and screw in.

I say "sort of" because, with a standard hex wrench, there is not much room to get much of a turn on the screws. So, it takes quite a few 1/3 to 1/2 turns of the hex-head screws to get them tight.

My kit also came with some cable ties and some instructions to relocate the plug wires that run behind the horn assembly. However, I didn't find it necessary to touch what was already there. Some bikes may differ though.

Not to hijack the thread or anything but I also bought these rear axle covers when I got the headbolt covers. Just thought I'd throw them up here if anyone cares to see. They were a little bit more of a pain to install, especially on the right side since the lower muffler was in the way, but worth it I think. I'll want to be sure and remove them before having any service done that requires the rear wheel to be removed or adjusted or else it will probably cost me an extra hour in labor for them to remove these and put them back on.
