Im at 5,550 miles on original tires, with about a 50/50 highway to local riding. No extreme issues, But wear is starting to show. Did the Lincoln head and thread shows still capping the top of his hair.
I believe there are no issues for me to finish to season (NE -Penna.).
7000 miles on my stock tire - so many variables to consider; road surface, throttle hand, braking practices... I only got 4500 miles out of my second rear - Dunlop SE 180.
I got 7032 out of mine... when i replaced it i did what everyone loves to do with a old tire... went to burn it out.... and it barely spun before it blew out... guess it was perfect time to replace it huh.... ha ha ha
it is your tire and you only have 2.... if you think it needs replaced... replace it... if not you will think about it every time you are on the bike and not enjoy the ride... go with the 180 when you upgrade it looks sick!
I put on the SE 180 tire.... love it... after i got it i found out how fast they wear down... i have about 3000 on it and am very happy with it... when it is warm it really holds the road well... has even let me pull the tire just a touch off the ground on a good launch
They say that 10K is the usual life expectancy of a stock HD tire. I got 13,500 out of mine.
I am in agreement with shoptroll, got 5,500 on my stocks and they are still looking good, plan to change at 10k but will keep an eye out.[sm=coolness.gif]
8,000 on mine and they are about 50% less depth in the center compared to the outer most edge (measured with a tread depth gauge). 10,000 is where I figure I will change them.
Until now, have always rode Metric and Brit bikes.Front tire always outlasted therear 3 to 1.
Rode with an old buddy this weekend, he has 7K on the bike, and the front is worn out more than the rear.
The even funnier part is, while tire is worn, center has more tread than off center, and left is worn out more than right.
I did kiddingly ask if he is riding in circles all the time, or only making left hand turns? But I kinda thought this to be strange onall threecounts. First the front wearing out faster than the rear, and second the center of the front wearing down less than the sides, and then the left side wearing out more than the right.
Oh yeah, he says he keeps up on air pressure, and it is an '06' Deuce.
