What is a safe RPM to rev engine to during normal operation?

Stock red line is under 6000 and you only get 6300 with stage 1 remap so you can go ahead and hit the rev limiter!!

It's probably more important that you don't lug the engine, or allow the rev's to get too low while riding. This can do severe damage. I don't redline my bike, but that's me. I know lot's of guy's that ride them like they stole them, but I like to keep my bikes for a long time, so I treat her with respect.

Most important thing, as with any motor, is to allow it to warm properly before riding it hard. I usually allow 5+ miles of town riding before taking mine above 3000rpm/wide open throttle. This is enough to make swift progress (ie stops traffic running into the back of me!) yet gives the engine a gentle introduction to the day's duties. Just as important though, as has been said, is not to lug the engine at low rpm's - they don't like it, and it will hurt it.

Once properly hot, I ride the b1tch like I stole it. The TC88 seems to love it - in fact I'm convinced the motor runs all the better because it gets used hard.

If its stock, you are not going to go above 5,800 because that is where the limiter is. If you do a Stage 1 it will go to 6,200. I guess those are the limits that HD feels is safe.

I don't run mine like that because I see no reason to push the limits.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks alot folks. I used the formula to get an approx on my rpms. Figured out that I have been keeping my revs between 2500 and 3000. The bike has 1500 miles on it and i have enjoyed every single mile.
