Default Kuryakyn forward controls

Just lining up my winter projects. Forward controls may be on there. If I do go this way I most likely will go with the Kuryakyns. I like the "do it yourself" application without removing the outer and inner primary and the fact that you can switch back easily. What I would like to know is how far out from the bike do they stick out. I have highway pegs and find they are not far enough out the clear the air cleaner comfortably and do you get any rattle from the old shift rod.

Thanks

Here's mine and yes I think the longer peg's would be a good choice.

I have the 3" extended Kuryakins and like them alot. I'm still looking for some kind of peg extension or a bigger peg set because they do sit in a little closer than I would like and I would like to be a little more spread out when I'm cruising.

I have the standard Kury forwards - love 'em. No shift rattle if you install the kit properly - there is a rubber coated shiv that holds the shaft tightly in place.

If you have highway pegs now, and you don't find they allow you to stretch as much as you want, go with the 3" extented forward kit. But those are out there....If you have long legs, you'll be comfy, but if not, I think you will find stretching more of a strain that far out.

If you have shorter legs, throwing them out 3 more inches (I thought max was +2" but anyway) then your clearance issue is only going to be worse. If you are having an issue with clearing your air cleaner, you'll need extended pegs. I don't think the Kuryakyn kit gives you anymore extension out to the side than HD or anything else. It's the pegs that will make the difference there. My concern beyond that would be being able to safely reach the break pedal and/or shifter with your feet further out to the side. The kit comes with an extended shifter peg and it's perfect for normal length pegs but you'll probably have to keep bringing your feet, or at least your toes to shift and break.

Look at the switchblades and they got a new set that swings out and up some that you might like. Pay attention that the farther foot pegs stick out to the side the more yer gonna drag them in curves.

Hey, I didn't know that! I like that idea. I'm using highway pegs now (shifting abd braking with my heels). I like not having to do major surgery to install and being able to flip back if I don't like 'em.

Do they post install docs on their website? (Sorry, in a hurry - gotta start "work", suppose I could check myself).
