Default Right Side Hand Shifter?

I love the look of a jockey shift or tank shift, but dont want to deal with a suicide / footclutch.

Has anyone done a right side shifter and kept the clutch on the left hand?
You let off the throttle when you shift anyway, and I cant think of any problems you might have with stopping, balance, etc.....

It might take a bit of engineering to get the linkage over to the right side though.

Just looking for ideas or pics to see if it's something I want to attempt.

dontbother, its the gayest thing i have ever heard of. the whole point of running a jockey is having to deal with a suicide clutch. and honestly its not that bad, i ran one on my old sporty for 2 years and never had any issues. in fact i find it a little weird going back to hand controls on my new dyna, i may convert it to jockey shift foot clutch in the near future. i recommend the kits from la briola, google it and check out their kits.

the guys at soetenga design (website no longer up) used to have aright handshifter, butit was a tank shift and it wasdesigned for sporties. in the end not the same look as a jockey, and pretty lame despite the clever linkages.

How about a clutch lever on the jockey shift?Yousee them a lot inthe mags. Clutch lever on the bars with a jockey shift seems kinda lame.

Who lets off the throttle when they shift??Want to see a Harley fly..... Keep it pegged from a roll and shift as fast as fast is just before the rev limiter kicks in. That'll put a smile on your face!!!![8D]
I believe you can get an electric clutch that may solve the need for a suicide foot clutch.

true i have seen that done on many bikes lately as a simple solution to avoid foot shifting. in the end its up to the rider and personal preference. i would think it would pose its own set of problems but i never really ran through all the scenarios that might make this set up difficult.

Just an idea....this is what I have right now and prob. will change it again. I just haven't sat down and come up with a new idea as to how I want to do it, but I want to use a shifter from an old pickup, with a pistol grip. I'll have to go junkyard savaging sometime. Later Fish.

Don't know how strong you are, but on my 64 Pan I had the clutch on the handle bar and the shifter on the left hand side. You had to learn how to pull it after you got tired oh ! I don't like suside or jockey shift myslef.

It can be done. I have it. Fabed it myself its on a 2010 streetglide n 96 softail. Been using it for 6 months. Those guys don't know what there talking about. I get more of a roll back using my foot some times. And all my controls stayed where they belonged. So if u need to rip down the road to race u can. By the way ill race with My shifter. Its all about experience n comfort. If u know your ride u can race anything anytime. Me personally i love the shifter

Left hand shift is hard enough, how do you do that with right hand and twist the throttle? Just my thought. Well, anything possible.
