Lowrider. It has the handle bars I wanted. The blacked out engine. I like the riders position with the foreward controls. I could have got the spoked wheels for $200 more. The mag wheels are tubeless. So I wentwith with the mags.
All the comments are spot on. I had the same dilemma. I've always loved the Dynas and was looking really hard at the LR. It finally came down to bang for the buck and ultimately what I wanted to do to the bike. That steered me to the FXDC. It's the best deal for the money in the Dyna family and when you get down to it, may be the best deal of all of the Harleys simply because of what you get with the base bike. The only three things that I'd change on the bike have already been mentioned, the handlebars, the spoke wheels (strictly for flat repair, I still like the wire look), and forward controls (I'm 6' and don't find the mids uncomfortable, it's just that the forwards would make the ride even more comfortable). Good luck.
If your a "bigger" guy go with the Super Glide or Super Glide Custom. I'm 6' 240 lbs & the Low Rider felt small to me. I didn't look right on the bike. Have someone take a pic of you sitting on the Low Rider with their cell phone & you'll see what I mean.
I am 6'2" and have had both an fxdxt and a lr. Both had forwards as the mid mounbts don work for me. I did get a fxdc as a loaner form the dealers for a couple of weeks as well.
Long legs and midmounts dont work. I felt like my knees were up under my armpits. Don't forget you can also stick the longer shocks on the lowrider if it feels to low but you like the looks. Thats what I love about harleys is the only time you have to chose is right at the start about which physical bike to buy after that anything is just an option you can change.
Basic thing with the low rider is getting the tach on the tank leaving the bars clean. HBut like everyone ha ssaid before its what YOU like to start with take em both out for a ride. take in a few shops with big windows so you can see what you look like on it. Then buy the one YOU like. after al you have made the right choice by wanting a dyna in the first place anything else is nit picking now
It's like asking someone to pick your favorite color. Do your research and think about what mods you are gonna do and decide whats best for you! It's Harley you can't go wrong!
Loved the look of the Lowrider & Superglide Custom, but picked the Custom in the end as i liked the wire wheels and wide tank and tank panel on the Custom.
