Any advice in breaking a new bike in. Dealer says vary the RPMs, more full cool-down heat-up cycles in first thousand miles the better keep it under 3000 first 400 miles, then ride it normal but not hard. Don't lugg the engine. Anything else? Any tips or tricks? Thanks
Sounds okay. I would ignore the 3000 rpm for 400 miles though.
What I did: Rode about 3-5 miles around town to warm oil then hammered it full throttle in 2nd and3rd gear roll ons from say about 2000 -2200 rpm just for a bit and not let the revs get high. Don't do this from a lugging rpm.
These are just quick on and off blasts.
Let off and do it some more letting reason and temps be your guide.
Imo this loads the rings for better break in and should be done in the first 20 miles.
I certainly don't consider this to be abuse in any way and it works for me.
