Dropped the bike for the first time today!!!
Just called in to get it cleaned at the gas station, pulled away on a shiny surface that was covered in (i know now) car polish. Anyway bike slid and I went **** over tit!!!
The funny thing is I watched a guy do the very same thing last Friday and I went out the following day and bought Engine guards....They work, thank god! Bit of a scratch on the Derby cover thats about it apart from my sore rear end![:@]

That also happened to me... The group I ride with gave me the road name 'Armor All'
We were leaving the gas station/car wash parking lot on a slight decline to the main road. The bike in front of me started to fish-tail and I hit the brakes. The bike slid out on a low side at like, 3 MPH. A dent in the front heat shield and a dent in my pride... Stood it back up and hit the road...
Baeseman1: Yeah....scary how easy the bike slid out!
I'm in the middle east and they spray the tires on 4wds with a "Son of a Gun" type product....That settles on the floor and makes it really slippy.
You just have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get on with it.
I missed a turn, so to speak, and went through a road sign. My engine guards not only helped limit damage to my bike when it went down, the guard also took the hit from the metal sign post instead of my knee. The guardwas a bent mess but I can walk just fine. 200.00 is cheap insurance. Plus I mount a couple of fog-lights on it to be more visable from the front.
