Default Maintenance Program covers what???

06SB is going in for the 5K service.....I purchased the maintenance program for $1799.00 from the dealer.....On the 2500mile service they did whatever including swap to synthetic oil and it did not cost me anything. I don't have any of the paperwork describing my maintenance program so can someone tell me if I should expect any charges for the 5K service???

Is there a place on the HD website where I can download the information on my maintenance program?is it standard throughout all HD dealerships???
I can try to get a copy from the dealer but it might be like pulling teeth.

And yes normally I would not have purchased the maintenance program but.......my home, shop, and tools are 800miles away from the bike and where I am working so that is what influenced me to purchase it.

Thanks

I doubt that HD has anything at all to do with the maint. program - it's likely specific to the dealer you purchased it from.

5K service is nothing special (to my knowledge there is no shecduled 2500mi service - but maybe that's part of what you paid for).

Aside from full fluids changes, there are no materials required for 5K service, it's mostly checks and adjustments (clutch cable, drive belt, streering head fall away). I would hope for $1800 this would all be covered

I did the same plan at my dealership when I picked up my bike new. Knowing now what I did not know then, when it runs out and/or I get my next HD, I will not be buying this plan. I will do all the maint myself, or likelyuse my local indy for things I can not do.

I am at 12K miles and there has not been any problems with the PCMP that I have had. They have treated me well, and I have not run into anything that has not been covered yet by the plan. I check the invoices each time, and all the things are getting done (or at least they are claiming they got done) within the plan.

The reason I will not get it again is simply because they charge way too much for the plan, and their services themselves. $350 - $500 depending on your dealer, or interval, per service. That's outragous. It's a glorified fluids change! I was not familiar with this a couple years ago, but am now. I have one more year on the plan, and I will use the hell out of it until it runs out.

I live in Arizona, so the moco deams that as an "extreeme evnvironment". Therefor, I get maint. services avail to me every 2500 miles, and because it is prepaid, I use them.

Ok, thanks guys for the info.....running in hot weather in the southwest I have not problem with them thowing in new syn oil every 2500 miles...its the life blood of the motor and I know that is covered. I think that my plan should cover new plugs and the air filter too which I guess should both be ready for a change...at least the air filter.

Anyway the service folks are good guys and have been good to me in the past but.....I wanted to be informed and ready to do battle if there are charges, because as stated above I paid a hefty fee for the service plan. I'm going to press the dealer to provide me with a new copy of the Maintenance Program I purchased.

Glide05.....when you say full fluids do you mean they should dump the tranny fluid too???

Yes - engine oil, tranny fluid, and primary fluid are all replaced at ALL service intervals. They can all be filled with syn3. Simple drain and fill for the tranny and primary. The primary inspection cover has to be opened to check the primary chain on 2005 and earlier models - I believe the 2006 and later have an auto-tensioner for the primary chain, so the fill is thru the derby cover hole.
I don't have the book in front of me, but I don't think the air filter is scheduled for around 30K miles. Maybe same for the sparks, although I believe both are to be "inspected" at 5K.

Tranny and Primary do not get changed at the 5K service for normal duty service. If you are under the severe service you need to check the owners manual.

Bought my bike this last weekend. Coming up on my 1k. I too bought the service thinger. Maybe not the best investment ever, but with financing and all it only ended up being like $10 a month extra, so what the heck.

Can't wait for the oil change. Then my "break-in" is over and I can really let her rip, right? Anything I should look out for? Are there typical/common short-cuts or mistakes made by Harley dealership mechanics that I need to be on guard for?

If you paid for a service plan that only added $10 a month to your loan payment, this is a very good deal.
Assuming a 5 year loan - you've only paid $600 for service over a 5 year period? How long does the maint contract last?

Hey for what it is worth......If I am successful at getting a copy of my maintenance program that I purchased along with the lenght and all.....I will post tomorrow and let eveyone know just what I did or didn't get for the $1799......it seems that it was for 5 year period but not sure.

Here is the bonus.......bike runs real strong with all my upgrades.....I'm happy with it......milage is at 55 to 60 miles per gallon.....and after an initial $10K down I moved some investment money and paid the G*D damn thing off so its all mine now. HUUUUU RAAAA feels good to have the toy and no more payment.

Really? Are 2006-2007 service schedules different than previous years?
The service manual for 2005 clearly states that engine, primary, and transmission fluids are to be "replaced" at 5K miles, and for that matter, all service intervals (1K,5K,10K, etc), I find it hard to believe that newer models would be any different.
