Belt guards

I have a '01 FXDWG and the belt guard weld broke! This happen to anyone else? I took it to a custom bike builder and he said that Harley quit putting in the rubber vibration damper.

the belt guards are the very first thing i took off my bike. i like to see the full belt, plus it makes it easier to get to. i think they are pretty pointless, never had any issues running without them

My weld came undone during Dyno run. Took it off and went chrome.

Just wondering (like the idea of removing). Do you tend to ride on unpaved roads?? That would be my concern with removing the bottom one.
