The LED's are brighter. Do yourself a favor and go pick up the March Issue of American Iron Magazine. There is a tech piece in it that shows a step by step install for the panacea taillight and turn signals and it also explains the difference between the incandescent and LED lights and why the LED's appear brighter, run cooler, and last longer.
I didn't get the Panacea system. I just changed out the taillight to a Kury LED laydown. I really like it but if I had it to do over again, I would have gone with the Panacea lights.
OK, Isee the LED's are better than the bulb/filaments, now, the Panacea, is it as easy to install as the LED laydown or is the wiring different to include turn signals??
Unless they've improved them since I got mine about a year ago, the Panaceais much dimmer than stock bulbs in sunlight. I made the mistake of only checking them in the garage, and they looked really nice and bright, but my riding buddy finally mentioned they were dim in the sun, and I was shocked to see just how dim they were. On the reliability of LEDs vs. bulbs, yes LEDs may last longer, but I've never replaced a bulb in my 98 Dakota since I bought it new, and I drive it almost every day. For now I'm sticking with bulbs, partly because I've decided I don't care for the hi-tech clusteredlook of LEDs.IfI blow a bulb, I can replace it in five minutes with the spare I carry. On the plus side, the Panacea was very easy to install, and I'm happy with the Kury halogen running/turn signals in the front. They include a converter module that requires only one wire for both running and turn signal functions - very slick.
Hello folks,
I have a quick question for you all. I first off instaled a HD smoke LED brake light and really liked its added safety features and looks. After some research I found that Kuryakn made LED inserts with smoked lenses for just over 100.00 each (front / rear). After installing them, with the Kuryakn run/brake/turn module I noticed that my turn signals would flash at an amazingly fast rate. I mean they would flash super fast with just the ignition on, both right and left rears. This occured even with the load equalizer installed that was supplied in the Kuryakn kit. After doing some asking around, I was told that the Kuryakn LED inserts can not be used with the HD tail/brake light. Is this 100% true? Just curious. After spending about 300.00 total for the LED turns/module I really want to get this to work. I just ordered a Panacea smoke tail lense from J&P Cycles, hoping that it fixes the problem. I'm getting the regular one and not the one with the arrow that flashes within the tail lamp. Just putting this out there in case others might have had the same problem. Any and all replies are greatly appriciated. Once I recieve my new tail light, I will install it and report back. Please post if you have heard of this or experianced it first hand.
