I'm currently the owner of a 2007 Electra Glide Classic. While I love the bike, I don't think it's the best bike for me. I'm not riding two up as much as I thought or am I doing as many overnight trips. So, I'm considering selling the bike and picking up a Fat Bob.
I do have two concerns about the Fat Bob (and I think these would also apply to the rest of the Dyna family).
1. I like to carry tools on my bike. This would consist of a few hand tools, a pump and a tire plug kit. Is there a convenient way to carry tools on a Fat Bob that won't ruin the looks of the bike?
2. When I use a windshield, I hate wind buffeting (not that anyone likes wind buffeting). It was a problem on the Electra Glide till I installed HD's wind deflectors on each side of the fork legs and between the forks. Now I have a very calm air pocket. I've always thought most of the turbulant air comes from below the windshield. I don't see any air deflectors for the forks on Dyna models. Does anyone make deflectors for under the windshield or on the forks? Or are there other solutions?
I have no experience with a Fat Bob, I have an 06 FXDWG But, your concern over carrying a tire pump and tire patch kit may be a moot point if the Fat Bob comes with spoke wheels. As you know spoke wheels mean tires and tubes, unless the Fat Bobs have alloy wheels and tubeless tires, a tubeless tire patch kit will do you no good. I have a short HD sissy bar and it will carry a tool kit that will handle many roadside repairs. I purchased a Windzone tool kit, removed some oh their stuff and added some of my own. It will not do an engine teardown but I feel that it is capable of handling many common roadside repairs. As far as the buffeting, yes therecan besome, you are talking about a lighter bike with out the fairings and stuff that would block or redirect so much wind blast. A wind shield can help of course, but some people experiance some buffiting even with a windshield.
I use the Touring Windshield. The Buffeting is very minor. I have ridden for over 35 years, and enjoy some airflow. Don't you get hot on those 100 degree plus days? I got a windshield so I could ride on those 30 degree days. I guess some people don't enjoy being in the wind. Yes ! I used to ride at zero degrees when I was young. Now that I am older, I don't enjoy the thawing out process as much.
Rifle & Memphis Shades both make great w/s kits & they also offer deflectors for the lower forks - all for about 1/2 what the HD w/s alomewill cost. HD also offers a tool container that mounts on the lower right side withenough room for any tools you'd need -roadside any way.

I don't recall the frame-mounted tool container fitting the '06 and up Dynas; am I missing something here?
