As I general rule, Idon't buy guns for people who are going topoint themat me. For the same reason I try not to buy products from countries that wantme dead. That's why "made in the USA" is better, for leather coats and everything else.

You forgot the disclaimer, "This thread was typed on a chinese made computer"
Which is why I said "TRY not to buy". Sometimes you don't have the option, in this case you do.

Maybe the reason people are getting hung up on quality leather, not just "$500 crap" is a good one based on life lessons and expierience. I have seen a lot of leather jackets fall apart and lets face it, a screwed up zipper generally means you're going to get a new jacket. I got caught by surprise when the temp fell from 90 to 65 literally over night so I ran out and got a HD Brody. If I had had the time and seen this thread I would've shopped at Fox. Thanks for the tips.

My wife bought me an HD perforated leather jacket , which was great until the zipper broke in the full up position , man that was fun to get off. I saved the jacket just in case.. and ordered a Fox Creek. The quality difference was amazing. I only wore it a few times before the hot season. Lost 20 lbs and it got too big. Fox Creek graciously took it back ( it was in new shape) and gave me a great credit.

I'm riding up to get one fit next week. These folks stand behind thier product.

Yes they are expensive , but it is an investment. You get what you pay for.

My HD jacket was the same price as the one at Fox Creek and made offshore and not nearly the quality , and try to get warranty work on one of those a few years down the road...

If you need repairs , I got my old HD jacket done at http://www.mdoutbackleather.com/

Ron put in a #10 brass YKK ( it had a little POS #5) and with labor it was $40
Looks like it was the stock zipper but is twice as beefy. Great Guy , Great work and service.

Looking for a real motorcycle style coat, one with all the zippers and such. My Wilsons i have now had become to small. I am paranoid almost to buy one on line cause it may not fit and the quality mat suck ,'

I would like to hear feedback on coats you guys and gals wear. Got to be sure i can return it and not get poked recharge fees. Thanks for advive.

I would like to keep price blow 125.00 . Thanks in advane for ideas .......... Got to get one pretty fast as the weather has sent to the sheeter here .

Simply put, I have examined all the cheapies closely, and the best bang for the buck in the under 125 dollar category is the FMC stuff, hands down. Heavy leather, YKK zippers, and overall great quality, for a hundred bucks.

Like you, I'm in the market for another motorcycle jacket, as the asphalt wrecked old faithful this spring. Old faithful was a traditional FMC that I bought on a budget quite some years ago. Only burned through in one spot. The coat was literally cooked to my skin and had to be cut off of me in places from the heat from sliding down the asphalt, but the leather was still not burned through.

I'm holding out for made in usa myself this time, but your budget is what it is, and if that's all you've got to spend, take a look at the FMC stuff.

Jafrum, has a line of leather jackets that are inexpensive. I did not get my jacket from there because before I started looking I stumbled on one at a swap meet, I got a pistol pete and I love it. Jafrum has them for $68.95, it has the zip out liner(thinsulate), zippered sleeves, zippered under the arms for ventilation, a neck warmer( big plus), then in frontit hasa zippered flap thathas a couple more pockets and you canlay a pistol in there. This is a great jacket, so far I have rode in 45 degrees and it was great, the real test will be in the winter, however, I got one big enough that I can layer under it. I havea vest, chaps, and gloves from Jafrum, the vest and chaps I have had for a year and they are holding up great.

I'm not sure you get what you pay for in terms of leather jackets these days. I bought one from leatherup.com foraround $70years ago (I think it was 2003 might have been 2001) and it's still going strong. Granted it's made in Pakistan, butthe quality is good and the way retail works most of the money is staying here in the US, don't worry.
