Default Super Glide Tachometer Help!

Besides obviously needing an older model handlebar clamp, is there any reason why the following Harley Part (67224-04) wouldn't work on a 2007 Super Glide?

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

The only reason I can think of that they don't list this part for the '06 and '07 is because of the handlebar clamp and maybe because the directions in this kit tell you to get the rpm info from the speedometer wiring, whereas you now must get that from PIN3 on the ECM.

Can anybody shed any light? Thanks in advance. This is my first post to this board. New SG owner after many years of japanese sportbikes!

Can't say why they don't list it as working for an 07, but I'd trust them to know.

The part number you're looking for is 68941-04 -- it's a Sportster tach that gets its info from the serial bus. The 68850-04 Y-cable will plug right into your harness and feed both the tach and the speedo, though it's a little short compared to stock and the connector will be outside the frame. You could probably just splice into the stock cable if you have a mind to.

Somewhere here there's a complete listing of all the parts you need to set up like the picture...

Check this thread to get an idea on parts #'s and such to do this set-up.

Scroll about halfway down the first page to get to the pertinent info.

Splat, is that picture your setup??

Would you mind measuring distance center to center
on the mount holes (red arrow below)??

Reading that other thread, you mention white idiot lites.

Do you mean neutral, left right turn, etc??

Hi Mud --

Yeah, that's my bike.

I make the distance you indicate to be 4.25 inches.

Yeah, all of the indicator lights in the bar are white (now) for me. The original cable to the speedo had LEDs that I presume were colored. The Y-cable has incandescent lights. If you look closely at the pic you'll see the neutral and low oil pressure lights are on. With winter coming on, I'm toying with the idea of putting the old cable back and splicing the tach connector to that so I can get the big harness connector back inside the frame.

I used the Harley 2 5/8" Mini Tach Kit P/N 68953-04 & Tapered Gauge Housing P/N 67524-04
and made a mounting bracket anduse two 3/4" spacers and two button head bolts.

Thanx for the measurement Splat.

4.25 inches from center to center.
I'll have to do some welding to get
3.75 inches from center to center for mine.
06 SuperGlide with 06 WideGlide risers.
4.25 inches
from center to center.

Your white lights -

I think you are just missing one piece.

The warning jewel (pictured below).
May not be the same part # for your 07.

Thanks guys for all the input. A follow on question: It is my understanding that all the tach needs to function is power, ground and rpm signal. Given that Splatter is considering the removal of the 68850-04 Y-cable, can't I just forego the cable and hook up the tach to power, ground and rpm signal (Pin 3 at ECM). Can somebody confirm that a late model sportster tach will function with just these simple imputs?

I can tell you that the Y cable going to the tachis a five-wire affair...

tach side harness sidewire
Pin1| Pin 6|orange (Ignition)
2| 7|lt. green/violet (Datalink)
5| 2|brown/gray (battery)
6|1| orange/white (accessory)
7|12|black (ground)

I'm just guessing that the ignition connection is to power the light, accessory probably does the same.
