He definitely should have done all that navy. I have a neighbor (don't know him)that has a smallish Honda cruiser that always sits under a shed behind his house. I've lived here 3 years and have never seen him riding it but I can tell he at least moves it around every now and then. Finally, the other day, I was in my truck and got behind him. Looked like an accident waiting to happen. He was going about half the speed limit and was wiggling and wobbling back and forth like a 5 year old riding without training wheels for the first time. When he came to a stop light, he looked like a goose trying to land on a pond in a 50 mph crosswind. I don't know if people like that are braver than me or just stupid. But, if I had no more riding ability or agility than that, I'll be damned if I'd hit a public road yet. I'd be in a parking lot somewhere taking a course or at least practicing on my own.
Anyway, I'm hearing now that the guy who crashed and died may have blown a rear tire going into a curve. Makes me really wonder now about that skid mark coming out of his neighborhood. Did he take a bike with atire that was probably already worn out, do a little burnout on the pavement and then gas it up and head down the highway? Maybe there's something to that Darwin theory after all.
I'm not a beleiver in pre-determined destiny. People can believe what they want but for me, I think that bad things don't happen for a reason unless the reason is neglect or stupidity. Mostly, we cause the things that happen to us, but sometimes bad things just happen for no reason at all. I think they call that the Chaos Principle.
I am sorry to hear this, and will pray for his family and friends. Let us take this as a reminder, it can happen to anyone of us or someone we know.
Lets all be very safe when we are out on our bikes, dont take chances and always act as if no one on the road can see us.
