What do you people think about aux lighting on an 05 Super Glide. Not crazy about the looks but I need more lighting up front. So far the only choices I have been able to find are: National Cycle or OEM. Any other ideas, thoughts, which do you all prefer. Thanks for any advice.
I want to put them on my 06 dyna as soon as they have them for 49mm forks.
They do add some more lighting but my main reason is that people do not seem to pull out in
front of you and respect you more with three lights up front verses one. I had them on and off
my last Harley and it was always better with them on. I took the driving lights off two weeks before I
traded and I noticed immediately that people were pulling out in front of me and not respecting my ride.
I work nights so much of my riding is after dark too.
In my 40 years of riding I have been down hard two times and both were from cars pulling out right
in front of me. So for me the more lighting up front the better.
Hey WillieC. Thanks for the articulate discourse on aux. lighting. Makes me consider adding aux. lights. However, I do not ride at night if I can help it and I live in the Southwest. Traffic is definitely better here in terms of density; the cagers are just as bad here though there are just not as many of them. The one time I went down hard in my nearly 40 years of riding was for exactly the same reason you cite. The head light on my new Wide Glide is much improved over my 97 Super Glide.
In fact, given that I am a slave to style, I will probably stick with the single, well designed IMHO, headlight but I have been considering the OEM kit that turns the rear turn signals into brake lights. Does anyone have experience with this kit?
I want to get the Aux lights for my 05 FXD, but I have the windshield on already. I would have to get the different windshield, unless there is a way to modify this one. Anyone come across that?
Windshields are easy to modify. Cover both sides with duct tape, and draw your lines. Cut with a fine tooth coping saw. Use some fine sand paper to dress the cut and shape the edges. Simple.

looks GREAT and improves rear visibility. Simple to install.
As far as the running lights they help in the day time too as far as people pulling out
in front of us. I also put a Fat Boy 7" headlight on mine to which I am adding the dual
bulb lense this winter.

This is true ! I used masking tape and cut it out with a sabre saw. Needed to remove 1 1/2 inches around the headlight to clear the Fat Bob 7". You cannot tell it from a factory job
There is a thread in the do it yourself forum on how to trim your windshield. I used a jigsaw with a very fine downward cut blade to take an inch off and then buffed the edges.
If anyone has pics of a superglide with aux lights please post I am also interested and already have the windshield for it.
