I put the same thing on my superglide last weak. Ran the one black wire from each lamp into a hole at the bottom of the headlight housing I drilled and spliced them into the yellow wire, so they come on only on low beam and auto turn off on high beam.
Now that doesn't sound like it would take the tree hrs labor I was charged, but mine has a separate switch to turn them off completely if so desired. One problem that I see already is that I was pretty sure Chrome was NOT necessary on my Superglide, but after adding these nice shiny lights I find myself looking at more pieces to start putting on her.
Mine cost me a hundred bucks with bulbs. Got them from someone local here on the boards. I have never put nething new on my bike. I hunt the classifieds and ebay and dennis kirk 75-90% off outlet.
took about 30 minutes to install. If I had run them on their own circuit to a new switch with a highbeam cutoff, it probably would have taken me three hours though if done right. I'd have to take the tank off, blah blah blah...
Yuma, where's the switch? Please post a pic. I've thought about additional lights but have not pulled the trigger yet. I believe I might do mine with a solid state relay and set them to run either on low beam or high beam or not at all. May end up with the switch on the console of my FXD. I have the PIAA 100/110 Watt bulb in now - blue light. I'm not sure I am happy with the clear lens.

Will try to post a pic soon. The switch is a push button that is mounted on the handlebar next to the high/low beam switch, not really a reach out and push position tho. Will look back for info another member had given me for a switch from cylcegadgets.com that is what you are talking about.
I wired up a set of the passing lamps on my Dyna 2 years ago and they do provide a lot of extra light at night and to pesky cagers who have a habit of not seeing a bike. It gives other drivers 3 points of light, not just the single headlamp. As far as wiring, a few extra minutes to wire up an Autoswitch will work the passing lamps off the stock Hi/Low beam switch and will allow you to run them on high beam also.
