Hi all, fitted an optimate charger to the battery in preparation for winter months, and left it on today for about an hour prior to taking bike out, but noticed that bike was heavily coated in condensation after this time.
I have an Optimate, had it for years and it worksgreat. Gotta say i,ve never encountered condensation because of it. Personally i can,t really see how trickle charging the battery would cause it . But i,m sure if it does someone on the forum will know.
If anything it would warm the battery, which would not allow actual condensation, so maybe it was overcharging it and the moisture is clinging to the case? I'd try it again and see if the batt seems hot.

I couldnt see how myself, but it was pretty bad. Just wondered if it was a common occurence.
I'd agree. I looked and saw you are in Ireland, maybe it's colder there than in the States. I think your Optimal is a trickle charger (depends on which one you have), so probably the battery was just cold, then temps warmed up later in the day and made this condensation. I assume you have the battery OUT of the bike, if not I'd recommend removing it for the season.

Have it hooked up so i can charge while battery still in place, andweather was actually quite mild over here today. Give it another blast tomorrow and see how it goes, be able to chill Guinness on it if nothing else.
