My Bob started sputtering a few THOUSAND miles ago at low to moderate acceleration, no problem on hard acceleration. The biggest problem was it would not do it when they test rode it and it would show no engine codes. Finally it showed an open front injector code. The wire had broken inside the insulation. The break was repaired and the bike runs fine now. I only got about 50 miles on the repair so far. I'll updat after a couple hundred, one way or the other.
Sounds like they got her fixed for ya.......... glad to hear.
My FXD sputtered several times this evening (about 36 degrees F outside this evening), then died.
These things don't run too well without fuel in them
First time in over 20K miles I have managed to use more gas, than I put in.
Thanks for posting that, my has been doing doing that for some time now, but has never shown a code. It is going to the H.Dshop monday, I'll be sure to tell the service manager about what was found on yours.
Bob
Same thing happened to mine only rear injector. Missing and spluttering but no codes. finally got really bad and got 'Rear injector low / open' code. Wiring broken through being too tight to allow rubber mount movement. I checked <power feed from coil to injector plug - open circuit>and <signalECU to injector plug - intermittant open circuit>. Pieced them out and heat sleeved. All good now. Had me going in circles before the code came up.
I had the same problem. I had a broken rear injector wire. I think it cost over $300 to have it fixed. Was not a waranty issue, even though service mgr. said he' seen more than a few have the same problem. Sincce the fix, approx. 1500 miles,I've had no problems
if you had warranty yet why did they claim it wasnt a warranty issue?Think i would have kept on em about it and went highher up if needed.300 bux buys lot of oil and filters
My 06 Bob is starting to sputter, idle super high when off the throttle, and sometimes idling super low and quiet when off throttle. I suspect maybe a worn injector wire or my DFO is crapping out. I haven't checked codes yet but my engine light hasn't come on either. However, if I were going to do a visual for a bad injector wire without checking circuits (don't really know how), how far from the actual injector would I follow the wire? Like, where is it normally wearing?
Mine occassionally "pops" just when I throttle up off idle, like taking off from a light. It even died once like a backfire. Anyone think mine might be having the same trouble?
Snipe,my missingwas not occassional,it was most of the time. Sometimes the wife would ask if we would make it home. But sometimes it would run a couple hundred miles and not miss a lick. Since the fix, runs like new.
