Mine occassionally "pops" just when I throttle up off idle, like taking off from a light.
It even died once like a backfire.
Anyone think mine might be having the same trouble?
sniper, what kinda plug wires you runnin??

The red ones.

May want to put the Original Equipment back on,
just as a test to eliminate that as a possible cause.

Thanks mud. The youngun' at the service counter questioned the plug wires at my 7500 service but the lead wrench said he was the one that put them on (before I bought the bike he had done all the service and stage 1) and they were the best, incuding the ability to send info back to the icu or whatever it's called. They are called Thundervolt 8.2.
I was going to do the 10k service myself but if it keeps popping, occassionaly sputtering, and the backfiring on decel gets any worse I am going to have the wrench take a look at it while he does the service. I already know from what he told me that the fuel is a bit lean on decel and he wanted to install the SERT to be able to tune that out of it (the popping or backfiring on decel) but I didn't have that kind of cash at the time (was getting a new rear tire). He said the plugs were the cleanest burn he'd ever seen at 7.5k, it now has 10.5k and I'm waiting 'till after Xmas to see how my cash is holding up before making a huge (for me) investment in SERT.

I don't know anything about those ThunderVolts,
but I do know that someplug wires can create an issue.

If you have em,

May want to put the Original Equipment back on,

REAL cheap/quick test.
