Anyway, CLUNK is a good thing under normal riding conditions (IMO).
When the revs are up and you are hammering the the throttle, there shouldn't be much clunking going on (my experience).
I switched my engine oil, primary oil and trans oil to Fully Synthetic Mobil 1 V-TWIN 20w50 and my clunking went away. The dealer did the transmission gears recall later and put the standard HD oil back in and the clunk was back. I left it in for a few hundred to break in the new gears then switched back to the V-Twin oil and the clunk is gone once again.

The clunk is okay with me... I will try the syn in all three holes after a few hundred more miles.
Like Doug said above it's a lot less of a clunk when you wind it out a little bit longer. That clunk tells me maybe I'm shifting too soon. Try it..It'll sound quieter. I experimented with this today after reading the beginning of this thread. At least, that's how it goes with mine...<----(my disclaimer)...

I have tried Syn3 in the tranny and don't get a clunk, I get a BANG! which I didn't like at all for obvious reasons. I switched back to Formula+, but may try another synthetic like Redline. Everyone seems to have different experiences though, and some like Syn3 in all three holes.
No way around the clunk. I drove a chevy blazer with 350k miles across country, it had a clunk but that was just a blown piston. That was one of those we'll see how far this will get me/ this is the worst idea ever... go for it decisions
