it's easy..... pull the lens off, obviously..... then take a flat head screwdriver and pry either between the black grommet and the chrome housing or between the black grommet and the reflective base that the bulb sits in- you'll feel it pulling up....just be careful and do it slow....it'll come up....once that is up, you'll have some play underneath where the 3 wires are.... thing is, that wire grommet that the wiring appears to be fed through- it isn't...it's actually part of the grommet....so if you intend on doing any splicing, you have to cut the wiring at the base of the chrome housing...OR, cut the individual wires under the bulb IN the directional and then you can pull the wires out from that grommet... you'll see what i mean once you start messing with it....

i did this job because i didn't feel like fishing through the wiring harness under the tank to relocate the directionals on my bob down to the forks....so i took the directional apart....cut the wire where i needed it....pulled out that grommet that's KINDA a part of the wiring, and replaced it with 5/16 outside diameter grommet (from any ACE hardware) and then fished what I needed into it once i had the directionals where i wanted them....then i made the splice in the directional and voila!....

NOW, next time i do it.... i wouldn't have even done any splicing...i would have gone to harley and bought new terminals to put together in the directional
