Default Stator Debator

I have a shorted stator to replace. I bid on a new stator at ebay. Then I decided to do the rotor also and bought a rotor/stator kit. As luck would have it, I also won the ebay auction, so now I have 2 stators for a 1992 Dyna. When I compare the 2 stators, one is wound with a thin wire and the other is wound with a much thicker guage wire. Why is this? Is there a performance difference? If so, which is better? Any info would be appreciated.

Thicker gauge wiring is going to allow for more amperage than thinner gauge.

Most likely, the two stators you have are not identical.

the 2 stators are identicle except for the guage of the wound wire, which is very different
