Wide Glide front end is an easy swap for the FXR. Only thing to watch if your using stock Softail trees is the stops on the lower tree. They will have to be cut back to allow for a full side to side turn. Most after market trees that use 2 screws bolted into the top of the lower tree for bump stops work perfect with the stock frame stop that's welded on the lower section of the neck. I've done many of these easy conversions including a wild 16" over front end with 55 degrees of rake (FXR Chopper) and they all work great with no ill effects. [8D]
There are kits out there to use your existing forks with wider trees so you wont need a whole new front end.
You'll prolly want to switch to a 21" front wheel with it though.
stock fork tubes are 35mm on my bike ... would really like to get 41mm tubes...... what i would really like to do is get a streetbob front end and put that on... they look great .............

Street bob front ends measure the same as the other dynas......Now the Wideglide has wider diameter...43mm I beleive. Regardless, they are wider than the other bikes in the Dyna lineup. Street bobs, Supers, ect all the samefront end.
If you just go with the trees and use your own tubes, you will still have to get some hardware for spacing the wheel and fernder. I suppose you could just "spread" the mounts for the fender, but the wheels definatly will need some spacers.
Personally, for looks, I think wide Glide and springer front ends are awesome. Performance in the twisties...no, but looks...HELL YEAH!
