Took my 07 S/G into the dealer this morning for the oil leak to be fixed. Seems it is bleeding between the cases. So, anyway, I get there and hand my bike over to the Service Mgr. She of course asks me how soon I need it back and I tell her as long as I have something to ride, they can take as long as they really need. (Orlando Harley provides loaners to preferred customers it seems). She then tells me that the only bike they have available for a 3-5 day period right now is a Heritage Softail. Ok, fine. As long as it isn't a little Sporty I dont really care. Just need something to get back and forth to work, ya know? Well, they pull the loaner around to me. She does the walk around on it, checks it out, full of gas, no damage, yada yada yada. Says she'll call me when they find out whats up with my bike. I say ok and take off.
OMG, this thing feels like a damn station wagon!!! It's an 08 heritage with huge floorboars, HUGE brake pedal, mini-apes that are pulled back so as I guess to accomodate a smaller framed person. HUGE, wide seat(which I have no problem with other than it feels like sitting on a couch)
So anyway, head for downtown to go handle some business and thru the streets of DT Orlando this thing isnt nearly as nimble as I am used too. Running down the highway, the windshield is so big you feel EVERy little wind gust.
Anyway, VERY NICE looking bike. Just not my style I guess. Feels like an old mans bike to me. While it has alot more chrome and "stuff" on it that my little FXD, it just doesnt feel like a motorcycle to me. Feels more like a 2 wheeled BUICK!!!!
I told the lady in service to take her time with mine. Now I want to call her and ask her if they CAN HURRY!!!! I want my bike back already!!
That mirrors my own impressions of riding a Fat Boy. It's interesting how differently the FL Softails handle than the FLH touring bikes. The touring bikes seem to have much easier/more natural handling, at least the Road Kings I've ridden have. When I eventually decide to get a new bike to replace my 05 Dyna, it is going to be one of the models from the touring line.
Dyna's are the sportscars of H-D, in my opinion. Easy to hot rod and very nimble. Rode a buddies (ex-cop bike) Roadking and was ready to get mine back a mile later. DYNAS RULE!!!!
LOL...I couldn't agree more with the opinion man. I love my FXD, rode a sportster for a few years. That thing was light and nimble, but under powered for my liking. Now that I have my FXD, it is definitely likeWildcat said...a HD sportscar....I LOVE IT!
If I ever get some one to my house that knows how to post pictuers I will even my 75 super glide with six over front end was more nimble than a fat boy.JMO
