I have had just about enough with my SE 07 pipes, I cannot see these pipes producing the deep sound I'm looking for, even if I gutt them out as some have done. By the way, my bike is a FXDC 07 Dyna Super Glide Custom. My question is simple for me to ask and I guess quite difficult to answer. I want a low rumble sound and as low frequency as it can get throughout the rev range. Problem with the Dyna is that the pipes are normally short, so there goes the rumble I am looking for. Is there any manufacturer who has managed to achieve the same type of sound some of the bigger and longer pipes produce on the touring bikes? Is there a possibility to install longer baffles on a Dyna? I have hard bags so I'm not too worried about them pipes looking too big for the bike; as long as they produce the right sound I'll go for them. I'm just looking for the "Real H-D sound. PLease help, I´ll buy you a beer or two...
The Reinhart slip on's are thedeepest sounding slip on's I've heard... There 2 into 1 is also very deep if ya want a full set of pipes...Others are close.. but it's gona be hard to match that True Duals on a Street Glide or (Similar) sound..
Just put the V&H 2-1 Pro Pipes on my Low Rider. Has that Harley rumble without shattering your ear drums. Have the old style SE-ll's up for sale in the classifieds & they have great sound, too. Don't know if they'll fit an 07, but there are pix with the post.
Thanks Trotter; by the way, that is a very handsome looking Night Train you've got there, correct me if I'm wrong.....
Will take a look at the Reinharts, it sounds promissing. I very much prefer the true duals.
Samson Ray Price Signature Series or Caliber pipes for a Dyna, the Samson pipe is just a black pipe made by Caliber so both are the same from what I have been able to find out about them. I really like tone and the performance range is great.
I personally thing the best sound (and performance) is available with a set of good 2-1 pipes. I personally have the V&H ProPipe, buut the Thunderheaders are great as well. If you add a set of good pipes, you will need to have your bike re-tuned. This will both increase performance, and usually make the engine sound better because popping associated with lean spots will be eliminated/reduced.
Rineharts are a good way to go but certainly not the cheapest. The slipons have a deep tone if that is what you are looking for and the 2:1 looks great. I've yet to hear the V&H Big Radius 2:1 but they look awesome with huge bazooka looking rear opening at the downward curve.I've got a Rinehart 2:1 on an 04 V-rod. The look, sound and performance is excellent across the board.
I'm likely to get an 08 FXDC soon and will go with either the V&H or the Rinehart 2:1 with a 103 or 107 kit.

i had D&D pipes on my superglide and they were the lowest sounding pipes i have heard on any Harley. i constantly got compliments on the sound of my bike.
Thank you all for the suggestions. I´m personally more inclined to the 2 into 2 type exhaust, but I really don't care much when it comes into getting the right sound; the deeper the better. Rineharts webpage is rather poor and cannot find the exchange muffler option. I was also thinking about removing the silencers from my 07 SE slipons and installig a set of Big City Thunder thinggies, but not so sure about the results; what is your opinion?
