Default pre fill oil filter ?

when changing the oil on my car, i usually pre fill the oil filter with new oil so that the oil pressure will come up more quickly ; the pump does not have to fill up a completely empty filter. Is it a good idea to do this when changing the filter on a harley? or is it better practice to fit a completely dry filter

It's impossible to fill the filter before installing, beacue it sits horizontal. Add what little you can if it makes you feel good (I do). But I don't personally see that it would make much of a differance either way.

I've never prefilled any oil filter and I never have had a problem with any engines. You have oil in the critical areas on start up so it really isn't necessary in my opinion.

It's impossible to prefil it completely, but not impossible to prefil it. You can still put oil in it and let the filter element soak in the oil. Then you can fill it 1/4-1/2 of the way and screw it on. It has worked for me.

I filled mine filter about 1/2 full then eased the strap on the right handle bar and let the bike lean over so that the filter could be intalled with out leaking.
