Prices vary from location to location. 6 weeks ago I got my '97 FXDS Convertible with 6,800 miles, original owner, S&S card, V& H exhaust, new Dunlop tires, new battery, 2 seats, and tons of extras plus everything that was taken off the bike, no wrecks, no lay-down, perfect condition, etc, for $6,000.
Took it to the local Harley shop for major tune-up and thorough inspection as it had sat in the guys garage since 2008. The service manager, the service rep, the tech that worked on it all commented on how nice the bike is and what a good deal I got. A salesman approached me about trading it in. They offered me more than I paid just 2 days earlier. I am completely thrilled with my deal and a great bike.
So, deals are out there if you hunt them down. Don't buy the first one you look at unless it stirs your soul to turn loose of the cash!

Yeah, Screamin' Eagles. Awesome sound. Rode the bike on an 800 mile trip last month. Still lovin' it.
I did add 2.5" risers with 1" pullback as I'm tall and didn't like being hunched forward.

the one Im about to pull the trigger on has 15k miles, not bad for 20years, has had some minor mods, additional chrome etc, but is a good base for making showroom condition with the exception is a traditional stage 1 - I will need to keep an eye out for a pair of SEs.
all the best buddy
