l got a set of screaming eagles on me low rider and they are pretty loud, infact they are very loud,l dare not start it up before 10 o clock on a morning because all my neighbours are retired and l don't want to upset them even though they admire my bike,l was wondering does anyone else have this problem
If they are retired most likely they are awake long before 10am. Beside's SE's aren't really that loud. If your worried about it push your scoot to the street before you fire it up.
Hey - don't worry, some of us retired folk love the sound (except SE's are awfully quiet IMO LOL!), only problem is I'm up by 6 and out by 8 on my bike! So I'd never hear ya!
I had a pair of Screaming Eagle mufflers I got sick of listening to. I picked up a pair of something (HardKrome?) mufflers cheap off Ebay and these were just as loud but had a high pitch nasal tone to them, plus the inlet to them was bigger than my pipes so I had to weld them on. I hated this set up enough I bought a whole new Reinhart 2 into 1 exhaust that sounded great --but was too loud. So, I forked over more money for their "Quiet" baffle. Calling this baffle "quiet" is an absolute joke. It is a bit quieter and changed from the deep tone of the regular baffle to a higher pitch noise, I mean tone. This exhaust issue may be the only thing that would make me consider buying a new bike. Listening to the exhaust racket may have been cool when I was 20, but at almost 60 Isimply don't want the noise in my ear any longer. Maybe with some of the new noise laws the aftermarket will seriously address the issue. I wish they would institute a standardized x db at x feet rating so a buyer would have some idea what noise level you might expect when shopping for an exhaust system. Anyway, I generally wear ear plugswhen I ride. I feel your pain.

I second that one. If there is one area in this board that is confusing is what is too loud. Lots of people post something like "I have brand X on my bike and love them, put them on your bike because I'm sure you'll love them to". The next post is someone else with the same pipes saying he took them off because he couldn't stand the noise.
Like it or not the loud pipes or going to go away. The sooner the aftermarket people accept this the sooner they will start telling us how loud we can expect their pipes to be. I can go buy a set of mufflers for a Mustang GT that make it sound awesome without having every cop I pass want to pull me over. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to buy the same thing for my bike.
