If you decide to do the mini-apes there is a guy called muddyape selling his stock Bob bars and cables for a pretty nice price. Cheap way to get your bike set up the way you want to. https://www.hdforums.com/m_2563448/tm.htm
This may be a dumb question. Say I have the bars, clutch, throttle\idle, and brake cables. What about the wiring going to the switch housings(blinkers, starter) ? Are those wires long enough or am I going to have to do something with them ?
My OEM wiring worked as well. I was able to pull a little of the slack out of the harnesses to make them work. I even had the Bob switches and harnesses to replace the SG wiring but didn't need to use them.
I also feel like the bike handles better with the mini apes. The width of the bars made them more comfortable and relieved pain I was experiencing in my shoulders with the buckhorns.
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but how does the 06 superglide handle with the apes?
I love the way my 06 handles and do not want to loose that, but I need to move the bars closer.
I have them on my '05 and love them. It's amazing how finding the right bar can make your bike fitlike a glove. After some turns getting used to the feel, the handling seems to be just about as good as before, at least it doesto me. They will straighten you up a bit which may affect how you handle turns, I guess, but I expect you'll get used to it right away and won't suffer handling loss worth talking about.
