Default RE: Adjustable highway pegs????

I bought the adjustable for my Street Bob. Being a total non-mechanic, I didn't notice that you screw in the end WITHOUT the allen wrench hole! Luckily, I used some 3-1 oil on it and it went in with finger twisting. Only on the second peg did I realize there was an allen wrench hole for screwing it in. Unfortunately, it was after I had mauled the threads with a pair of channel locks when it got tight. But a friend used some tool to fix the grooves and we got it in. Maybe I don't want to change my own oil!!

I beleive that I had an adjustable set put on by my dealer (one hole) but have never thought of adjusting them. Is it as simple as loosening the bolt, rotating to desired position and retightening? They probably would work better with a little more reach.
