I have an 04 Lowrider and been there done that... The WG hub is wider. If you installed the wide kit on your 39mm forks, there should be no problem you will need the WG axle spacers and remove the rotor spacer. The overall tire diam. is neg. and should fit in your existing fender. I do know the 04 and 05 WG and Lowrider frames are the same. I am not sure about the 03.
04 Lowrider
3* bearing cups
2000 Softail front end
3* rake trees
2 inch extended tubes
19 inch wheel, stock tire and fender
custom engineering axle and spacer kit
(by the way the stock WG axle is undercut in the center where the bearings would ride)
Bent the fender tabs out to WG width and slightly elonglated the hole.
Can I just remind everyone that the 2003 models of the FXDL and FXDWG had the SAME rake...
Are you sure? I was looking on eBay and the 2003 model Wide Glide's look like they are raked out more then the Low Rider's. I know for sure that the 2006's have different steering head and triple clamp rakes:
2006 New Triple Clamps Steering head / fork angles
⢠FXDI/C/B/35 models: 29Ë / 29Ë (0Ë difference from head to fork)
⢠Low Rider FXDLI model: 29Ë / 30.5Ë (1.5Ë difference from head to fork)
⢠Wide Glide FXDWGI models: 34Ë / 36Ë (2.0Ë difference from head to fork)
I have a 03 FXDL and I would like to put a 21 inch front wheel on it. I can not get a straight answer from anyone saying what it will do to the bike if I do that. I have converted my front end to the wide glide but I have the same 39mm stock forks on it. Thanks everyone
I will also be doing the front end conversion and moving to a 21" wheel. Could you please post some pics of the front end of your bike, I would like to see how it looks with the new conversion kit, also would you post the conversion kit part number and a link please? Did you do the work yourself or did you pay the dealer to install it?
I'm not sure when the change occured, but the LR and WG had the same rake a few years ago. And by a few years, I don't mean 10 or 15. I believe the change happened after 2000, but not sure. I'm sure someone here probably knows.

I am absolutely sure that 2003/2004/2005 models of the FXDL and the FXDWG all had identical 32 degree rake. It has only been changed on the 2006 models.
Perhaps now the standard LowRider (i.e without suspension upgrade) will go round corners without touching down !
Do you know what the actual angles are that are built in to the triple clamps and the steering head? Looking at the pictures, the Wide Glide looks like it has more rake then the Low Rider. And I noticed on Harley's website Link, regarding the 2006 Low Rider it states "Rake Steering Head/Trail 29.0Âş / 4.5 in.", which is true but they also have 1 1/2Âş in the triple clamp for a total of 30 1/2Âş. The same for the Wide Glide Link "Rake Steering Head/Trail 34.0Âş / 5.1 in." which is true but they also have 2Âş in the triple clamp for a total of 36Âş.
Using the same site from above, they list the 2006's rake, but it is actually just the steering head rake and not the total rake. Is there a website that list's the steering head rake and the triple clamp rake for the early years?
2006 Low Rider Link
Rake and Trail: 29.0 degrees / 4.5 in.
2006 Wide Glide Link
Rake and Trail: 34.0 degrees / 5.1 in.
