So I'm pounding the asphalt with my vanilla stock Fat Bob and I'm aching to upgrade my exhaust. I'm getting lost in the pack (under the roar of the loud pipes all around me) and the 1000 mile mark is fast-approaching.
So, this is what I want to know...
What would I need to do to the common Dyna version of the Thunderheader to adapt it to my California Fat Bob?
Are the Fat Bob mounts different? I've heard they are.
As for the O2 sensor... is there anything to prevent me from welding a sensor to the common Dyna version of the Thunderheader?
Thunderheader makes pipes with with the O2 sensor bungs already in the pipes they have since 06.I haven't seen a Fat Bob up close so I can't comment on the mounting. However,
If the Fat Bob uses a standard Dyna frame it hasn't changed since 06 so it should bolt right up.Good luck.
Special_Ed, thanks for the response. I see that you're right about there being O2-equipped ThunderHeaders. That's great news.
I still unclear on whether the FXDF frame is different. I suppose I'll get around to checking with the mfg. to see if they've proven the application yet.
The frames are the same....the only difference is if you are using the stock head pipes as the slip ons mount differently on the fat bob....if you put on a complete exhaust system you will be good to go. Don't forget the needed remap.

Great. That's what I was expecting. I'm thinking I'll probably swap out the complete stock exhaust. Just by eyeballing the thunderheaders on my friend's '06 Wide Glide, I'm thinking the Tommy Gun Heat Shield would still be usable. We'll see.
Ive got forward controls on my 2000 Dyna and a Thunderheader. They arent a problem for either the driver or the rider. Pipe fits very well.
